Position Title: Project Architect
Full Time (or part time, minimum 24 hrs/wk for the right candidate)
Location: NorthEast Grand Rapids, MI

Elevate Studio architecture.designseeks a motivated and well-rounded Project Architect/Designer for immediate employment in Grand Rapids, MI. Our 5-6 person studio environment is casual, collaborative, highly participatory, and sometimes a bit unconventional. While Elevate personnel have experience in many building types, over our 12 year history we have specialized in partnering with churches to align their ministry facilities with each church’s specific mission, vision, and values. The candidate will have opportunities for broad involvement in all aspects of architectural practice, with training and mentoring from firm principals who have 35 and 24 years of experience but are young at heart. The role would be ideal for a candidate with 5-10 years of experience who feels ready for increased responsibility, greater autonomy, and who craves a working environment that is more like a lab or architecture school studio than a corporate office. We are also open to candidates who would prefer to work part-time due to child-rearing or other life circumstances, but who want to keep one foot in a professional career.

Responsibilities of this collaborative role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up and managing smaller projects, or working with firm leaders on larger projects

  • Investigating and documenting existing building conditions, limitations, and opportunities

  • Meeting with clients to determine project parameters, programs, and design goals in large group and team formats

  • Develop master planning concepts, conceptual design plans, and renderings/visualization to communicate design intent

  • Develop architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details

  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, interior designers, specification writers, and construction partners

  • Perform field observation and construction administration

  • Participate with in-house business development initiatives and operational management improvements

  • Develop marketing and promotional materials

  • Stay current with new production and visualization software developments

We seek a candidate who has:

  • A fun-loving attitude that combines cooperation, service, leadership, and creativity

  • Passion, initiative, and enthusiasm for collaborative team-based design

  • Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines

  • Attention to detail and accuracy while also able to see the broader picture

  • A professional MArch or BArch degree

  • A professional license or seeking licensure

  • 5+ years of experience as an Intern Architect, Project Architect, or Architectural Designer

  • Interested/ready to get into some Project Management

  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Sketch-Up. Revit and InDesign a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • A comfort level in working with ministry-based clients and environments

Position will remain open until filled. Salary to be negotiated based upon skills and experience.

Seeking candidate for a full time or part time position. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administrative and office support activities for several employees. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating Power Point presentations and drafting up project contract documents, filing and ordering supplies, organizational coordination of project information and deadlines, and human resource support inclusive of payroll, employee benefits, and client billing. Extensive software skills are required, as well as internet research abilities and strong communication skills.

Prior experience working in architecture or construction is beneficial.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Architecture & Facility Management (9-month, Tenure-track)
Ferris State University, Big Rapids, MI

Ferris State University places excellence in teaching as its first priority while encouraging involvement in scholarly activity and service. To this end the Architecture and Facility Management (ATFM) Department invites applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position reports to the Director of the School of Built Environment and works with the ATFM Program Coordinator and faculty in helping to deliver the Facility Management program and in performing required duties. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining, enhancing, and delivering the IFMA Accredited BS in Facility Management curriculum with the potential of participating in the development and delivery of coursework within the AAS in Architectural Technology and BS in Architecture and Sustainability programs, as well as a potential new degree, a Bachelor of Architecture. The successful candidate will also be the dedicated Facility Management faculty member in activities related to IFMA Foundation Accreditation, coordination of internships and graduate opportunities, and outreach to industry and alumni.

Required:A Master's degree in Facility Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration will be considered if the candidate possesses a baccalaureate degree in Facility Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field. Five years professional practice experience in facility management.
